Hi, I'm Alex and I'm the person behind Cactus.
I've been building websites for nearly 20 years, ever since I started messing about with HTML as a child. The part I still like best is where the technical side meets the design.
Your site is built to the standard of software that serves millions of people a day, because that is the scale I engineer at. It teaches you fast what survives real traffic and what does not.
I work mainly with sole traders and small businesses, because those are the sites where the person behind the business actually comes through. So I spend time getting to know you first. Your site should tell people what makes you different, not just what you sell.
A website should get out of its own way. If someone has to work out how to use it, it has already failed. I build sites that look good, but the point is that they are easy to use and they bring you work.
When you work with me, you'll deal directly with the person designing and building your site from start to finish.

Quick to respond
Get in touch and you'll hear back within one working day, usually much sooner. On the Pro plan your messages jump to the front of the queue.
Monitored and backed up
Your site is watched around the clock and backed up regularly. If something looks off, I often spot and fix it before you even notice.
Covered out of hours
If your site goes down overnight or at the weekend, the monitoring alerts me straight away so it can be put right, not left waiting until Monday.
