A space to feel
heard, and to
find your way.
I am an accredited psychotherapist based in Bath, working with individuals and couples on anxiety, depression, trauma, and the many difficulties that life brings.
“Seeking help is not a sign that something is wrong with you. It is a sign that you know yourself well enough to know when you need support.”
Areas of work
Individual Therapy
A space that is entirely yours. We work at your pace, exploring the patterns, experiences, and questions that brought you here.
Couples Counselling
Relationships are complicated. Counselling can help you hear each other again, understand what is happening between you, and decide what you want to do about it.
CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps you identify and shift the thought patterns keeping you stuck. Structured, evidence-based, and effective for anxiety and depression.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing is a specialist approach for processing trauma. Gentler and more effective than talking alone for many people.
Bereavement
Grief does not follow a timetable and it does not look the same for everyone. I work with loss in all its forms, including losses that do not have an obvious name.
Anxiety & Stress
Whether it is a specific worry or a persistent background hum of dread, therapy can help you understand what is driving it and find a steadier way to live with it.
I am Sarah Mills
I trained as a humanistic psychotherapist and am a fully accredited member of the BACP. I have been working with clients in Bath and online since 2011.
My approach is integrative: I draw on person-centred therapy, CBT, psychodynamic thinking, and somatic approaches depending on what is most useful for the person in front of me.
I have a particular interest in anxiety, complex trauma, and the experience of feeling like something is wrong but not quite knowing what.
What to expect
Reach out
Drop me an email or call to arrange a free 20-minute phone call. This is a chance to ask questions and see whether we feel like a good fit before committing to anything.
First session
The first session is a getting-to-know-you conversation. I will ask what has brought you here and what you are hoping for. There is no agenda beyond beginning.
Finding a rhythm
If we both feel ready to continue, we will agree on a regular slot. Most people come weekly to begin with. Fees are £85 per 50-minute session.
The ongoing work
Therapy is rarely linear, and that is fine. We will check in regularly about how things are going and adapt as needed. You are in the lead.
What people say
I came to Sarah feeling completely lost. She never pushed me in any direction, just helped me hear my own thoughts more clearly. I honestly did not expect therapy to feel this natural.
After years of thinking I just had to manage my anxiety on my own, working with Sarah showed me there was another way. The EMDR work was particularly transformative for me.
My husband and I came to couples counselling as a last resort. Sarah created a space where we could actually hear each other again. That made all the difference.

FAQ
We spend the time getting to know each other and talking about what has brought you to therapy. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready to. By the end, we will decide together whether it feels like a good fit.
Most people start with weekly sessions. As things settle, many clients move to fortnightly. There is no fixed programme: we review regularly and let the work guide the pace.
It varies. Some people find six to eight sessions gives them what they need. Others work with me for a year or more. I have no financial interest in keeping you in therapy longer than is useful.
Yes, with the standard exceptions around serious risk. I will always discuss with you before breaking confidentiality unless there is an immediate danger.
Start a conversation
The first step is often the hardest. You do not need to know exactly what you want to say: a free 20-minute phone call is a good place to start.
